Job summary

Squarespace is seeking a VP of Software Engineering to lead the Product Platform organization in New York City. The role focuses on owning and consolidating platform capabilities across identity, accounts, design systems, media, APIs, and developer-facing tools.

You will grow a leadership team, define platform-as-a-product practices, and drive adoption metrics while partnering with product, design, security, and data leadership to align investments with business strategy.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of engineering management experience leading teams and developing technical leaders.
• Deep experience in platform engineering management with internal platforms or shared services used by multiple product teams.
• Fluency in domains such as identity/auth, design systems, APIs or account experiences.
• Track record driving consolidation or modernization of fragmented systems without blocking delivery.
• Strong technical judgment and ability to discuss architecture with senior engineers while staying in the product seat.
• Executive presence to articulate platform investments to CPO, CFO and board-level audiences.
• Experience balancing internal customers, external developers, and end-user impact in one portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year product strategy for Squarespace's product platform capabilities from identity to APIs.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineering managers across platform domains.
• Define platform-as-a-product practices with adoption metrics and internal feedback loops.
• Drive consolidation of fragmented systems while sustaining delivery for product teams.
• Shape external developer experience through public APIs, docs, and extensibility as a growth surface.
• Partner with product, design, security, and data leadership on architecture and investment decisions.
