Job summary

State Department Federal Credit Union is seeking a VP of Human Resources in Alexandria, VA to steer HR operations, design strategic initiatives, and lead a high-performing HR team. The role partners with the CEO on people strategy and ensures compliant, scalable HR practices across a potentially international workforce.

The incumbent will shape talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, and performance management while guiding organizational culture and change management in a regulated

Qualifications

• Experience in a regulated environment, preferably within financial services, banking, credit unions, or similarly regulated industries.
• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• SPHR certification is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role leading and developing high performing HR teams.
• Demonstrated ability to make timely, well informed decisions, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of outcomes in a dynamic environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate across levels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization’s mission and objectives.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO on human capital strategy, succession, culture, and workforce risk.
• Lead change management efforts related to organizational restructuring or growth.
• Oversee performance management systems and succession planning initiatives.
• Guide leadership development and training programs.
• Oversee HR technology systems and ensure data integrity and security.
• Lead a total rewards strategy that supports business goals, pay equity, and market competitiveness.
• Lead and oversee all HR operations including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, training and compliance with labor laws.
