Job summary

Coast is seeking its first VP, People to build and run the function end to end across People Operations, Total Rewards, Talent, and Culture from our New York City base. You will partner with the executive team on org design, leadership development, and people decisions that scale with the business, ensuring payroll, onboarding, benefits, and compliance are robust.

This is a build role where you’ll inherit a foundation and design the team, roadmap, and systems to support growth in NY and Utah,

Qualifications

• 10+ years in People/HR roles, incl. scale-up experience.
• Experience leading a People function at a high-growth startup.
• Experience coaching managers through performance and org design decisions.
• Track record designing compensation philosophy, pay bands, and equity strategy.
• New York City based; in-office 3–4 days per week and travel to Utah quarterly.
• Strong knowledge of employment law across multiple U.S. states.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or B2B SaaS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and run the People function end to end across People Operations, Total Rewards, Talent, and Culture.
• Design the team, the roadmap, and the systems (HRIS, payroll, benefits administration).
• Own the People budget and the tooling decisions that come with it.
• Lead recruiting, performance, and career development.
• Partner with the executive team on org design and headcount planning.
• Ensure HR policies and records are compliant and audit-ready across states.
