Job summary

AMSURG is seeking a Sr. Director, Payroll to lead enterprise payroll and workforce operations in a remote-first environment.

The role oversees payroll governance, compliance, and transformation across ~2,700 employees and 250 entities, guiding system rationalization and multi-site integrations. The leader will partner with Finance, HR, Tax, Legal, IT, and integration teams to standardize processes, strengthen controls, and support growth and acquisitions.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive payroll or HR operations leadership experience.
• Experience leading payroll operations in multi-entity environments.
• Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or high-growth settings.
• Strong focus on process standardization, controls, and compliance.
• Experience partnering with Finance, HR, Tax, Legal, IT leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise payroll operations across multiple legal entities and JV structures.
• Ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing across jurisdictions.
• Establish governance, standards, policies, and procedures for payroll ops.
• Drive standardization and automation to reduce operational complexity.
• Oversee integration playbooks for acquisitions and new entities.
• Collaborate with HRIS, IT, Finance, and external vendors on systems and workflows.
