Department Overview

The Operational Risk function sits within the firm's Risk Management department and is responsible for the independent oversight of operational and electronic trading risks across the Equities platform.

The team provides second-line risk challenge to support the controlled operation of both the US Equities business and affiliated electronic execution services.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of an operational risk control framework for the firm's US cash equities execution business
• Provide ongoing operational risk oversight for the broader US Equities trading platform, covering cash equities, equity derivatives, and electronic trading services
• Assist in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of risk-owned policies, procedures, and standards for Equities and Electronic Trading activities
• Prepare governance materials and support the operation of risk committees and senior management reporting
• Conduct front-to-back operational risk reviews, focusing on trade flows, execution practices, supervisory controls, and business processes
• Provide targeted oversight of electronic and algorithmic trading activities to ensure appropriate risk controls are designed and implemented
• Support the investigation and analysis of operational incidents, performing root cause reviews and leading lessons-learned exercises
• Facilitate annual risk attestation and certification processes for Equities business units and trading platforms
• Conduct regulatory gap analysis related to equities trading and execution, ensuring operational risk frameworks remain aligned with regulatory expectations
• Partner closely with Front Office, Technology, Compliance, and other Risk teams to promote a strong risk culture across the Equities organization
