Position Purpose

Vice President - Sales

Reports To: President

Branch: Meriden Corporate Office

Position Purpose

Effectively manage a high-performance outside sales and inside sales team to ensure customer satisfaction by providing support and motivating them to achieve their sales goals based on company objectives. Ensure exceptional service to Plimpton and Hills customers. Maintain an extensive industry knowledge of products and trends to best meet/ anticipate the needs of the customer.

Essential Functions

  • Design and approve all sales strategies
  • Achieve year over year sales growth with focus on margin improvement
  • Build, develop, and maintain a network of marketing and service strategies
  • Attend outside trade association meetings deemed beneficial to growing the overall sales
  • Responsible for sales strategy, decision making and strategic management of sales team
  • Establishes sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.
  • Assess selling strategies and change per market trend
  • Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors
  • Establishes and adjusts selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, and supply and demand
  • Coach sales team in techniques and follow up to improve results.
  • Integral in developing systems to improve efficiencies for inside / outside sales people.
  • Work with underperforming areas to identify problems and develop specific plans to ensure growth both long and short term.
  • Responsible for downward communication
  • Manage training and development of new sales regions and areas
  • Effectively manage outside/inside sales positions
  • Responsible for sales of all regions under supervision
  • Maintain prompt delivery of all communications (email, phone, orders, delivery etc.)
  • Communicate with Human Resources to resolve any associate performance or relational issues
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts
  • Use customer feedback to generate ideas about new features or products
  • Determine product sale price in accordance with company procedure as well as address questions about product availability
  • Keep pricing lists and structures confidential
  • Maintain a clean and professional work environment.
  • Assist in other additional duties as required
  • Achieve company set goals and objectives as well as consistently strive to exceed sales performance goals.

Experience, Education & Skills

  • A minimum of ten years Wholesale Sales and/or industry Outside Sales experience required.
  • Familiarity with plumbing/heating/HVAC industry rules and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Result driven and customer focused.
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
