Job summary

The Honnold Foundation seeks a strategic leader to guide its global and domestic programs, grantmaking, and partner support. Reporting to the Executive Director, the VP of Programs will lead a four-person team, shaping strategy and ensuring impact through learning and collaboration.

As a key external representative, this role will advance community-led climate solutions and trust-based philanthropy, while balancing growth with flexibility and accountability.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10+ years leading nonprofit programs, philanthropy, or climate justice.
• Experience guiding program strategy in growing organizations.
• Proven ability to coach staff and develop teams.
• Experience with grantmaking and equitable, community-led approaches.

Responsibilities

• Lead global and domestic program strategy aligning with mission, values, and theory of change.
• Guide grantmaking, partner support, storytelling, advocacy, and learning.
• Translate strategy into clear plans and priorities with senior leadership.
• Ensure programs remain responsive to community leadership and local context.
