Job summary

Univision Local Media is seeking a Vice President of News to lead the Miami newsroom and steer the long-term vision for local journalism across linear, streaming, and digital platforms.

The ideal candidate will drive audience growth, foster a high-performing newsroom culture, and manage editorial direction, budgets, and cross-functional partnerships with Univision 23 and corporate teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years leading a large, multi-platform newsroom in a senior leadership role.
• Proven history of transforming news organizations and driving change.
• Experience developing long-term editorial and business strategies that grow audiences.
• Strong financial acumen with budgeting of departmental operating and capital budgets.
• Experience leading breaking news, investigative journalism, and major market events.
• Deep understanding of Nielsen ratings, digital analytics, and audience insights.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the newsroom aligning editorial, operational, and business vision with objectives.
• Inspire a high-performing, multi-platform newsroom culture focused on excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
• Drive audience growth and engagement via data-driven content strategies across broadcast, streaming, digital, OTT, and social platforms.
• Oversee newsroom operations, including editorial direction, breaking news coverage, and staffing.
• Develop and manage News department budgets, ensuring financial stewardship.
• Recruit, coach, and retain top talent, building leadership pipelines.
• Foster cross-functional partnerships with Station Leadership, Corporate News, Sales, Marketing, Digital, Engineering, and Legal.
• Represent the station to community leaders and stakeholders, upholding editorial integrity.
