Role Summary

The Vice President, Hardware Solutions will be the architect and builder of Transit Technologies’ hardware strategy, responsible for creating a scalable, commercially successful hardware business that complements our software portfolio. This executive will own the entire hardware lifecycle—from vendor selection and negotiation through commercialization, distribution, and integration into our transit ecosystem. With an initial target of $10–$15M in annual hardware sales, this leader will set the foundation for significant long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hardware Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute the hardware vision aligned with Transit Technologies’ mission of becoming a one-stop transit solutions provider.
  • Establish business models for pricing, margin, and distribution that drive profitability and scale.
  • Partner with software executives to ensure seamless hardware/software integration.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select hardware vendors across fare collection devices, mobile data terminals, onboard equipment, and related transit technologies.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to ensure optimal cost structures and supply reliability.
  • Build long-term, strategic partnerships with hardware manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Drive productization and go-to-market execution for new hardware offerings.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, certification, and quality standards are met across all products.
  • Build commercialization frameworks to accelerate adoption by transit agencies and operators.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with engineering, product management, sales, and customer success teams to integrate hardware into the broader ecosystem.
  • Lead hardware roadmap planning, ensuring alignment with customer needs and market trends.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing hardware team as the function scales.
  • Growth & Impact
  • Deliver on initial revenue goals of $10–$15M in hardware sales, with a long-term vision for significantly expanding market share.
  • Position Transit Technologies as a trusted leader in integrated transit hardware and software solutions.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in transit hardware, mobility solutions, or adjacent industries.
  • Proven track record of vendor management, global supply chain negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Demonstrated success in commercializing hardware products and scaling them into significant revenue streams.
  • Strong financial and strategic acumen, with experience in pricing, distribution models, and P&L ownership.
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership, with the ability to influence and collaborate across software, product, and commercial teams.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset suited to a greenfield, build-from-scratch environment.
