Job description

VP of Engineering / Architect (Hands-on)

Compensation: 180-220k Base + Bonus + Equity

We are currently partnered with an early-stage FinTech company specializing in B2B BNPL solutions, seeking a Hands-On VP of Engineering to help grow our team and products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, grow, and mentor a team of engineers across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
• Architect and develop scalable, high-availability systems using React, Java, MongoDB, and SQL.
• Own and evolve DevOps practices: CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC), monitoring, security, and automation.
• Ensure security, compliance, and performance in all systems — critical for a regulated fintech environment.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to deliver features that drive business value.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to support scaling, observability, and efficiency.
• Set coding standards, enforce best practices, and ensure code quality across the team.
• Drive hiring, team structure, and technical culture aligned with company goals.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 5 in leadership roles.
• Proven background in fintech, payments, or financial infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in DevOps, including AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring (Datadog, Prometheus, etc.).
• Strong hands-on experience with our stack: React (frontend), Java (backend), MongoDB, and SQL databases.
• Experience with scalable microservices architecture and high-availability systems.
• Strong understanding of security best practices in cloud-native environments.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, mission-driven mindset.
