Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Storm2’s client in New York City is building core backend systems for trading, financing and fund management. You’ll design and implement scalable services, APIs, and event-driven workflows to move money reliably and accurately.
You’ll join a lean, early-stage team with ownership over architectural decisions and end-to-end delivery, tackling hard reliability, data integrity, and performance challenges in a production fintech environment.
Senior Backend Engineer – Trading & Financial Systems
New York City, SoHo, in-office
$200k–$260k base
Storm2’s client is an early-stage New York FinTech rebuilding how Americans access and fund retirement, using financing to open up greater participation in public markets.
They’re well-backed by leading venture investors and have assembled a lean team with experience across some of the biggest names in financial services and technology. The engineering problems sit directly at the intersection of credit, investing and money movement.
Moving money is easy until you’re responsible for making sure every dollar ends up exactly where it should.
You’ll build the backend systems behind trading, financing and fund management, including the workflows that orchestrate and reconcile complex movements of capital. This is financial infrastructure where correctness matters, but the team is still early enough that you’ll have genuine influence over architecture rather than inheriting years of decisions.
They’re looking for an engineer who is comfortable with ambiguity and complexity. Someone who can get deep into a backend problem, make sensible architectural calls, challenge assumptions in a code review, and move across the stack when the problem requires it.
If you’ve built trading, lending or asset management infrastructure before, you’ll recognise a lot of the problems here. Kotlin experience is valuable, as is hands-on experience with Temporal or other workflow orchestration technology.
Financial markets experience isn’t the only route in, but genuine curiosity about how capital, credit and markets work is important. This is a role for someone who wants to understand the financial problem as deeply as the engineering one.
