Job summary

Burtch Works is seeking a VP of Data Science for a remote role guiding the Data and Analytics function. You will mentor a team of senior ICs and people leaders, setting priorities for API, experiments, models, and automated workflows.

You will collaborate with compliance, data, engineering, insurance, revenue and security to translate business needs into data strategy, ensure rigorous governance, and scale data science across the organization.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a quantitative field.
• 10+ years of professional data science experience.
• 5+ years leading data teams and building scalable processes.
• Strong executive presence and communication with stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of the data science lifecycle end-to-end.
• Proven cross-functional leadership with compliance, data, engineering, and security.

Responsibilities

• Own roadmaps for data science and R&D within the DnA org.
• Translate business needs into data science priorities with stakeholders.
• Communicate strategy, risks, and progress to executives and teams.
• Guide subdomains through tradeoffs of impact, explainability, and scalability.
• Foster accountability and continuous improvement across the team.
• Develop careers and succession plans for data science leaders.
