Burtch Works is seeking a Principal Data Solution Architect to lead enterprise data architecture and governance across platforms, domains, and delivery teams. The role emphasizes data products, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable data platforms to support underwriting, enrollment, billing, claims, and analytics.

The position is hybrid with on-site requirement at multiple US office locations, and requires deep expertise in modern data architectures and cloud technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in data integration, data architecture, data modeling, data engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise technology.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale data platforms, data products, or analytics capabilities.
• Strong understanding of data mesh, data products, metadata, governance, and domain-driven design.
• Experience with modern data platforms and cloud environments (Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Kafka; AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong Python, PySpark, and SQL skills; experience with AI-enabled data solutions; governance and regulatory awareness.

Responsibilities

• Own and shape enterprise solution architecture strategy, standards, and patterns.
• Define reference architectures and reusable design patterns for delivery.
• Establish guardrails for scalable, secure, and consistent design.
• Lead architecture decisions for cross-value-stream initiatives.
• Mentor architects and engineers to raise architectural maturity.
• Partner with security, risk, and compliance to embed governance.
• Drive adoption of data product operating model with customer value focus.
• Collaborate with data engineering, product, and AI teams to operationalize solutions.
