Job summary

Breakout Prop, a crypto-native trading platform backed by Kraken, is hiring a VP of Data to scale a company-wide data capability. You will lead traders, engineers, and operators, driving data maturity and analytics across functions.

You will evolve data pipelines, governance, and data products, enabling self-serve analytics while aligning with growth and risk management goals in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data engineering or equivalent.
• Expert SQL and data manipulation with big data frameworks.
• Deep expertise in data lake/warehouse technologies and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of data function and scale to Breakout's growth.
• Report to COO with mandate to elevate data maturity.
• Evolve pipelines/infrastructure into scalable data platform.
• Expand self-serve analytics across teams.
• Grow and lead the data team, mentor engineers.
• Establish data governance and shared data models.
• Build data products for AI agents and LLM tools.
• Collaborate with product/finance/ops to embed data in decisions.
