VICE PRESIDENT OF COMPLIANCE
Organization Description

Position Summary

The Vice President of Compliance provides strategic leadership and oversight of LBIG’s compliance program across its life, annuity, Medicare Supplement, and supplemental health businesses. This position leads the Compliance Department, advises executive leadership on regulatory and compliance risks, and partners with business leaders to ensure that the Company’s products, operations, distribution practices, and third-party relationships comply with applicable federal and state requirements.

The role requires a practical, business-oriented approach to compliance, sound judgment, and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear and sustainable business practices.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Compliance leadership and governance.Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the Company’s compliance framework, policies, procedures, and internal controls. Set departmental priorities, advise senior management on significant compliance matters, and provide clear direction on corrective actions.
  • Regulatory monitoring and implementation.Monitor changes in federal and state laws, regulations, bulletins, and regulatory guidance. Assess their impact, coordinate implementation, and verify that affected business areas have adopted compliant procedures.
  • Product and policy form filings.Oversee timely and accurate policy form, rate, and related regulatory filings. Maintain effective processes for SERFF submissions and filings made through the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission, including compliance with applicable uniform standards.
  • Advertising and sales-practice compliance.Oversee the review and approval of advertising, marketing materials, producer communications, and sales practices. Communicate required revisions clearly and work constructively with internal stakeholders, independent producers, and distribution partners.
  • Consumer and regulatory complaints.Oversee the investigation and resolution of consumer complaints, including complaints received from departments of insurance and other regulatory authorities. Maintain the complaint-management framework, identify trends, and ensure timely, accurate, and well-supported responses.
  • Regulatory examinations and inquiries.Serve as the Company’s primary compliance coordinator for market conduct and other regulatory examinations and inquiries. Coordinate responses, maintain supporting documentation, review draft findings, and oversee remediation arising from examination reports.
  • TPA and third-party oversight.Establish and maintain compliance oversight procedures for third-party administrators, distributors, producers, and other business partners. Coordinate audits, evaluate findings, monitor corrective-action plans, and elevate material concerns.
  • Claims, rescissions, and contestability matters. Participate in the review of contestable life insurance claims and proposed rescissions. Evaluate relevant facts and state-specific requirements involving material misrepresentation, fraud, intent to deceive, and causal connection.
  • Monitoring, testing, and corrective action.Develop and oversee risk-based compliance monitoring and testing. Document findings, assign corrective actions, track remediation, and report material issues and trends to appropriate leadership.
  • Department leadership.Lead, develop, and evaluate Compliance Department staff. Manage workloads, establish performance expectations, support professional development, and promote a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented culture.
Required Experience
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible regulatory compliance experience within the individual life, health, and annuity insurance markets.
  • Significant experience with individual life insurance, annuities, Medicare Supplement insurance, and/or supplemental health products.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a compliance function or managing compliance professionals.
  • Direct experience with SERFF, state departments of insurance, product filings, regulatory examinations, consumer complaints, advertising review, and market conduct requirements.
  • Experience evaluating operational compliance and overseeing third-party administrators or other regulated business partners.
Education and Professional Credentials
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, risk management, law, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • LOMA, compliance, insurance, legal, or other relevant professional designations preferred.
  • FINRA registrations and broker-dealer experience are preferred when relevant to the Company’s products and distribution activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of state insurance laws, regulations, bulletins, and market conduct expectations.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to analyze complex regulatory, operational, and factual issues.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business processes and clearly explain required actions.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments while maintaining appropriate independence and objectivity.
  • Demonstrated initiative, discretion, accountability, and commitment to continuous learning.
