Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Vice President, Applied AI – Employee Benefits to define and lead the next generation of AI-driven transformation across the business. This role oversees a portfolio of ML, Generative AI, agentic AI, and predictive analytics, guiding governance and enterprise strategy.

Hybrid or Remote work is possible, with Office attendance three days a week for those near Hartford, Chicago, Columbus, or Charlotte. Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of applied AI, data science, machine learning or related quantitative fields.
• 10+ years leading large, complex organizations and senior leaders across multiple teams or domains.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Ph.D. in quantitative, technical, actuarial, or business field preferred.
• Experience in Employee Benefits, healthcare-related domains, or complex service-heavy insurance operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own Applied AI strategy across Employee Benefits and enrollment, billing, service delivery, and operations.
• Define domain-level Applied AI strategy and influence enterprise direction through evidence-based recommendations.
• Lead executive decisions on quality, risk, cost, scalability, and time-to-value for AI initiatives.
• Drive transformation of EB processes through Applied AI, including enrollment optimization and service automation.
• Oversee AI governance, risk management, and regulatory alignment across portfolios.
• Monitor and improve modeling, persistency, enrollment forecasting, and billing accuracy.
