Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Vice President, Applied AI to define and lead the next generation of AI-driven transformation across Employee Benefits and Operations. This role drives strategy, execution, and governance for AI and data science initiatives, delivering measurable improvements in growth, efficiency, and customer experience.

The ideal candidate has 20+ years in Applied AI/data science, 10+ years leading large teams, and experience at VP level in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience in Applied AI or data science.
• 10+ years leading large organizations, including senior leaders across multiple teams, portfolios, or domains.
• Experience operating at VP level, influencing enterprise direction while owning outcomes across multiple lines of business or domains.
• Strong experience applying data science and AI within Employee Benefits, healthcare-related domains, or complex service-heavy insurance operations preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative or business field preferred and may offset experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead Applied AI strategy across Employee Benefits and Operations.
• Oversee AI governance, risk management, and regulatory alignment.
• Drive enterprise AI initiatives across enrollment, billing, and service.
• Lead cross-line prioritization, investment planning, and workforce strategy.
• Champion reuse and scalable deployment of AI assets.
