Job summary

A leading company in the outdoor recreation and wellness marketing is seeking a VP of Accounting/FP&A. Buffalo Groupe is headquartered near Washington, DC, with additional offices in Charlotte, Boulder, Portland and LA. Buffalo Groupe is now seeking a VP of Accounting/FP&A to perform accounting and management functions essential to the success of Buffalo Groupe and its subsidiaries. The ideal candidate would be located in Reston, VA or Charleston, SC, however remote candidates will also be considered.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions of parent company and subsidiaries
  • Preparation and oversight of parent company and subsidiary financial statements
  • Developing and directing all cash management and treasury functions for company, its subsidiaries, and joint ventures
  • Preparing and achieving budgets by establishing schedules; collecting and analyzing data, and recommending plans
  • Building financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and decision support for the company, its subsidiaries, and joint ventures
  • Designing and refining financial and operating models to help predict future performance, perform scenario analyses, and guide the business on strategic decisions
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Providing status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
  • Ensuring that policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide reasonable assurance that company assets are protected
  • Improving the accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
  • Implement and monitor compliance with standard operating procedures that reflect Buffalo Groupe’s products and services standards
  • Assist Executive team with evaluation and analysis of future corporate acquisitions
  • Perform other accounting functions as directed by senior management

Requirements:

  • 4-year college degree in accounting or finance preferred
  • 8+ years accounting experience in a fast-paced environment managing multiple sets of book/entities; prior agency or time-based billing experience a plus
  • CPA (or working towards certification) preferred, but not required
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively across subsidiaries and clients
  • Strong time management, organizational and computer skills
  • Accounting software applications experience (Sage, MAS 500 preferred)
