Job summary

WCF Insurance Company is seeking a senior leader to head Middle Market underwriting operations in the Western United States. This role owns P&L, sets underwriting strategy, and leads multi-state teams to align with enterprise goals.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in business or related field, 8+ years of commercial lines underwriting, and at least 3 years in leadership. Strong data, collaboration, and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
• Eight+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience with leadership.
• Three+ years of insurance company leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of property & casualty underwriting, rating, regulations, products, market conditions, and finance.
• Proven success implementing underwriting strategies, authority structures, and technology initiatives.
• Strong relationship-building skills at all levels with ability to influence and engage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead Middle Market underwriting operations to achieve growth, profitability, retention, and combined ratio goals.
• Own Middle Market P&L, underwriting strategy, and operating plan across territories.
• Oversee and develop underwriting teams to meet initiatives and strategy.
• Attract and retain quality business to improve loss, retention, and growth targets.
• Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities; drive improvements.
• Partner with Sales, Product, IT and other departments on strategic priorities.
• Support rate and form filings, product development, and underwriting innovation.
• Build strong relationships with agents, policyholders, and industry partners.
