Job summary

Annaly Capital Management, Inc. is seeking a Legal Operations Specialist to drive efficiency, cost discipline, and innovation across the Legal & Compliance Department. Own systems, processes, technology, and vendor relationships enabling lawyers to focus on high-value work. Champion AI adoption and train staff to use tools responsibly.

The role emphasizes scalable frameworks, cost control, and governance across CLM, e-billing, knowledge management, and AI-driven workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; CLOC certification preferred.
• 5+ years in legal operations or related operational roles translating between business needs and tech.
• Experience building or scaling legal operations with systems, workflows and metrics.
• Proficiency with CLM, e-billing, matter management and knowledge management; hands-on AI tools.
• Strong outside counsel management, budgeting and spend optimization.
• Analytical mindset with data analysis, reporting and dashboards.
• Strong PM skills to execute across multiple initiatives.
• Excellent communication; ability to translate across diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a scalable legal operations framework aligned with Annaly's business-first legal model.
• Translate Legal leadership priorities into practical processes, tools, and workflows that improve execution.
• Partner with Legal and Compliance to codify playbooks, templates, and decision frameworks.
• Own the legal technology stack—e-billing, matter management, CLM and knowledge management systems.
• Serve as the department's AI champion: pilot and deploy AI-powered tools to augment workflows.
• Develop training programs, prompt-engineering guides, and best-practice playbooks for AI adoption.
• Develop methods to measure and communicate value delivered by AI tools and process improvements.
• Design and oversee outside counsel management program; panel selection and performance tracking.
• Enhance billing discipline, alternative fee arrangements, and rate negotiations.
• Develop, manage, and report on the annual legal department budget including spend forecasting.
