Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a senior, hands-on Lead Software Engineer (Full Stack) in IST to design, build, and own core components across the stack—from Java services to user interfaces. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with business stakeholders, and shape technical direction while delivering measurable value.

You will work across Investment Banking and Global Capital Markets, promoting best practices, reliability, and scalable architectures, with opportunities to apply AI tooling to speed

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of relevant experience designing, building, and operating enterprise-scale applications.
• Strong hands-on Java engineering skills, including Spring Boot, concurrent programming, RESTful APIs, and automated testing.
• Full stack capable with modern JS frameworks (React/Angular).
• Proven experience leading engineers, setting direction, mentoring, and growing talent.
• Excellent communication to liaise with business stakeholders and translate requirements into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop a group of engineers, setting priorities and fostering ownership and quality.
• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into solutions.
• Architect and modernize components; drive design across teams and systems.
• Hands-on engineering on backend Java and modern web front ends.
• Promote CI/CD and testing best practices; ensure production stability and incident response.
• Leverage AI tooling to accelerate development while maintaining sound engineering judgment.
