Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design and develop Java-based applications, mentor the team, and collaborate with product owners to translate requirements into robust solutions. This director‑level role focuses on delivering complex features while improving efficiency and resiliency in a financial services context.

You will apply Java/Spring expertise, multi‑threading, and experience with messaging systems like AMQ and Kafka, plus Agile practices and Linux proficiency.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong Java, Spring and prototyping experience.
• Financial services domain experience and mentoring ability.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Java based applications
• Codes, tests, debugs, documents and implements complex software applications
• Creates prototypes
• Interface with product team to gather requirements
• Escalate and communicate issues to stakeholders
• Resolve issues that other junior or less experienced team members are unable to solve
• Provide technical solutions to problems encountered in the team
• Review the work done by other team members to make sure it adheres to the coding and security standards
• Makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous application development issues
• Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency and resiliency
