Job summary

Omnitrans, a member of the Fracht Group, seeks a VP of Import Operations & Customs Brokerage to lead the import logistics and compliance functions in North America.

The role directs air and ocean imports, ensures CBP compliance, develops teams, and drives efficiency, growth, and profitability while maintaining a high‑performing work environment.

Qualifications

• Active U.S. Customs Broker License required.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in Customs Brokerage, international freight forwarding, import logistics, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or senior leadership experience in Customs Brokerage and import operations.
• Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, and entry processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for Import Operations and Customs Brokerage (air and ocean imports).
• Ensure compliance with CBP requirements, laws, company policies, and procedures.
• Lead and develop Import Operations and Customs Brokerage teams; manage performance and foster a high-performing environment.
• Stay current with CBP and regulatory changes; guide employees, customers, and leadership.
• Evaluate staffing, workflows, and technology to improve efficiency, service quality, and profitability.
• Develop SOPs, internal controls, metrics, and conduct audits of brokerage activities.
• Provide senior-level guidance on HTS classification, valuation, and import requirements.
• Partner with Sales and leadership to support business development and customer growth.
• Collaborate with domestic and international offices to deliver coordinated import solutions.

Position Overview

Omnitrans, part of the Fracht Group, is seeking a VP, Import Operations & Customs Brokerage is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and strategic direction of the Company’s import logistics and Customs Brokerage operations, including air and ocean imports. This position ensures operational excellence and compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements and other applicable laws and regulations. The Vice President will lead and develop the team, drive operational efficiencies and profitability, contribute to business development, and provide guidance on import and Customs Brokerage matters while maintaining a positive, high-performing work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Company’s Import Operations and Customs Brokerage functions, including air and ocean imports.
• Ensure Customs Brokerage activities comply with CBP requirements, applicable laws and regulations, Company policies, and established procedures.
• Lead, develop, and support the Import Operations and Customs Brokerage teams, including performance management, employee development, and maintaining a positive and accountable work environment.
• Stay current with changes in CBP requirements, import laws, trade programs, and other regulatory developments and provide appropriate guidance to employees, customers, and leadership.
• Evaluate staffing, workflows, procedures, technology, and operational practices to improve efficiency, service quality, scalability, and profitability.
• Develop and maintain appropriate SOPs, internal controls, performance metrics, and compliance practices, including periodic reviews and audits of Customs Brokerage activities.
• Provide senior-level guidance on HTS classification, valuation, import requirements, restrictions, and other complex Customs Brokerage matters.
• Partner with Sales and leadership to support business development, customer retention, and growth of the Import and Customs Brokerage business.
• Collaborate with domestic and international offices to provide coordinated import logistics and Customs Brokerage solutions.
• Communicate with CBP and other government agencies on behalf of the Company and its customers, as appropriate.
• Perform other duties and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Active U.S. Customs Broker License required.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in Customs Brokerage, international freight forwarding, import logistics, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or senior leadership experience in Customs Brokerage and air/ocean import logistics operations.
• Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, valuation, entry processes, and other regulatory requirements applicable to U.S. imports.
• Demonstrated experience leading operational teams and improving operational efficiency and profitability.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to support business development and customer relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.

Corporate Customs Broker License

• Maintain an active U.S. Customs Broker License and, if designated by the Company, serve as the qualifying licensed individual for the Company’s corporate Customs Broker license in accordance with applicable CBP requirements.
