Job summary

Thea Energy seeks a Vice President - HTS Magnet Engineering to lead the magnet engineering function for planar coil stellarator technology. You will set the long-term strategy, own the budget, and scale a high-visibility engineering group to deliver HTS magnet hardware at production scale.

As a senior technology leader, you will coordinate with the CTO, CEO, and other executives to ensure alignment with the overall commercialization plan while engaging with investors and partners.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of engineering experience with magnets, cryogenics, vacuum systems, or transformer design.
• Experience leading large, fast-growing engineering organizations in hardware-intensive environments.
• Deep credibility in HTS magnets or electromagnetics with major design decisions.
• Experience with multi-million dollar budgets and capital planning.
• Strong supplier and partner management for complex hardware programs.
• Executive communication with investors, boards, or government partners.

Responsibilities

• Define the long-term technical strategy and vision for HTS magnet engineering.
• Build, lead, and scale the magnet engineering organization, hiring Directors and Managers.
• Own the budget, headcount plan, and capital investment strategy for magnet engineering.
• Set milestones for magnet design, build, and test aligned with strategy and fundraising.
• Provide executive-level judgments on magnet specs and risk management.
• Manage strategic vendor and manufacturing partnerships at scale.
• Align magnet engineering with system design and commercialization roadmap.
• Represent the team to investors, partners, and regulatory stakeholders.
