Ares Management Corporation is seeking a Vice President to join its Government Affairs team in New York. The role focuses on building out the government affairs function, monitoring policy developments, shaping viewpoints, and engaging with policymakers to advocate for the firm's interests.

Ideal candidates will have 8-12 years in government affairs or regulatory work within financial services, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate cross-functionally with

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees preferred in relevant fields.
• 8–12 years of experience in or with legislative, regulatory, or executive branch agencies.
• Experience in government affairs for financial services.
• Experience writing/ bringing to bear comment letters, drafting legislative language, and policy viewpoints.
• Strong understanding of financial services policymakers and relationships.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to build consensus across diverse views.
• High integrity, ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive matters.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess the impact of policy developments relevant to Ares and the investment industry.
• Develop viewpoints and engage in advocacy on behalf of the firm.
• Execute government affairs function strategy with leadership input.
• Prepare briefing and presentation materials for engagements with policymakers, regulators, investors and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Communications, IR and other teams to align government affairs with firm objectives.
• Represent Ares at meetings with government officials and events.
• Provide oversight of external government affairs resources and assist portfolio company matters as needed.
