VP, Digital Commerce (CPG, DTC)
Location: Dallas/Plano, El Paso, Boston, Marlborough, MA or Morristown, NJ
Salary: 260k-300k base + bonus + package
Must-have experience in enterprise-level CPG brands, MarTech, and digital commerce / DTC and be an expert with Amazon and other marketplace ecosystems.
Position Overview
VP of Digital Commerce - DTC is responsible for defining and executing the enterprise digital commerce strategy across direct-to-consumer and marketplace channels for durable consumer goods. This role will own P&L oriented growth for DTC and marketplace ecosystems (with deep Amazon expertise), drive digital shelf excellence, enable AI-powered marketing productivity, govern media agency relationships and contractual outcomes (MSA/SOW/ROI), and align MarTech, product information and catalog operations to deliver a seamless omnichannel consumer journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and execute a unified digital commerce strategy for DTC and marketplace channels that drives revenue, margin and customer lifetime value for durable CPG products.
- Own the Amazon and marketplace ecosystem strategy and operations, including assortment, pricing, content, advertising, promotions and vendor/3P relationships.
- Lead enterprise DTC transformation: platform selection/optimization, subscription and CRM programs, fulfillment strategy and customer experience engineering.
- Drive digital shelf excellence through content governance, SEO for marketplaces, A+ content, review management and catalog hygiene to maximize discoverability and conversion.
- Operate and optimize the MarTech/PIM/PXM/DAM ecosystem to ensure high-quality product data, scalable catalog management and efficient syndication across channels.
- Implement AI-enabled marketing productivity tools and processes for creative optimization, media targeting, personalization and measurement to improve ROI.
- Manage media agency relationships and commercial terms (AOR, MSA, SOW), set performance KPIs, and ensure accountable delivery against ROI and business objectives.
- Use consumer insights and intelligence to shape assortment, merchandising, pricing and promotional strategies across channels and customer segments.
- Design and activate omnichannel customer journey strategies that connect wholesale, retail marketplace and DTC experiences to reduce friction and increase retention.
- Own day-to-day execution and catalog management practices, driving operational excellence, cross functional alignment and scalable processes.
- Build and lead a high performing team of commerce, marketing, analytics and operations professionals, setting clear goals, career development and cross functional collaboration.
- Partner with supply chain, analytics, legal and finance to ensure commerce initiatives are commercially viable, compliant and deliver measurable business outcomes.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in digital commerce, eCommerce or commercial roles within Consumer Packaged Goods, preferably with durable goods experience.
- Proven expertise in the Amazon ecosystem and third-party marketplace strategies, with a track record of growing sales, improving margin and managing complex marketplace operations.
- Demonstrated success building and scaling enterprise DTC businesses, including platform selection, CRM, fulfillment and subscription models.
- Experience implementing and operating MarTech and product data ecosystems (PIM/PXM/DAM) to support catalog quality and omnichannel syndication.
- Hands-on experience with AI-enabled marketing tools, marketing automation, personalization and measurement to drive productivity and ROI.
- Experience managing media AORs and contractual frameworks (MSA, SOW), setting performance KPIs and driving agency accountability.
- Strong background in consumer insights, analytics and shopper intelligence to inform merchandising and pricing decisions.
- Track record of delivering digital shelf improvements (content, SEO, review strategy) and owning catalog execution end-to-end.
- Excellent leadership skills with experience managing cross functional teams and collaborating with supply chain, finance and legal.
- Analytical mindset with experience using data to set priorities, measure impact and drive continuous improvement.
- Bachelors degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
