Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a VP Data Scientist Lead to drive data-driven initiatives across Commercial Banking. You will lead generative AI projects, design LLM-based solutions, and collaborate with engineering and product teams to deploy scalable, governance-backed capabilities using Bedrock and Cortex.

You will mentor junior data scientists, evaluate models, and translate business needs into measurable outcomes while maintaining strong software engineering practices and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Data Science, CS, ML, Stats, or related field
• 5+ years of applied ML/NLP experience with production deployments
• Experience with NLP and LLMs including prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation
• Hands-on with Bedrock or equivalent LLM platform
• Experience with Cortex Analyst or related workflows
• Strong Python and ML framework skills (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Experience building APIs and integrating LLM/NLP solutions
• Experience building data pipelines with embeddings, vector search, indexing, retrieval
• Knowledge of Git, CI/CD, testing, and software engineering practices
• Strong communication and stakeholder management
• Strong analytical skills with financial services knowledge

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver generative AI and LLM solutions for extraction, search, QA, summarization, reasoning, and recommendations
• Design and manage prompt-based and retrieval-augmented generation systems
• Build evaluation frameworks for accuracy, robustness, latency, and cost
• Prototype and productionize LLM apps using Bedrock, model selection and deployment patterns
• Collaborate with Cortex Analyst to enable governed analytics experiences
• Apply experience with Bedrock, SageMaker, or Databricks in production
• Build scalable services and APIs, with strong software engineering discipline
• Design and maintain data pipelines for structured and unstructured data
• Conduct applied research and translate findings into practical improvements
• Communicate business needs into measurable problem statements and metrics
• Mentor junior data scientists and promote responsible AI practices
