Job summary

Harbor Group Management seeks a Vice President, Investment Accounting, Credit Funds Controller to lead the financial integrity, reporting, and fund administration of its growing credit fund platform. You will manage accounting for credit investments and partner with third-party administrators, while mentoring a specialized accounting team.

The role emphasizes automation and data analytics within a high-visibility setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 8+ years of significant, progressive accounting experience.
• Big 4 or national firm experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to interface with institutional investors.
• Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, waterfalls, and investor reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with AI tools and modern data platforms.
• Experience managing and developing accounting teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with senior management, sponsors, and investors.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-fund environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted advisor to CAO, CIO, and Head of Investment Management; communicate with institutional investors on fund performance and reporting matters.
• Champion data analytics and AI in accounting; partner with Technology on automation and tools to scale credit fund reporting.
• Support CAO on strategic initiatives including systems integrations, fund launches, and portfolio optimization.
• Prepare executive-level presentations, dashboards, and analysis for senior leadership.
• Oversee month-end and quarter-end close for the credit fund platform and review fund-level financial statements.
• Oversee accounting for underlying investments, including interest income, amortization, impairment analysis, and securitizations.
• Manage relationship with third-party fund administrator and oversee capital activity and distributions.
• Assist with budget processes and monitor expenses; drive cost reduction across the platform.
• Review management fee calculations and conduct ASC 820 fair value research on complex credit matters.
• Lead lender and covenant reporting; liaise with external auditors for fund audits.
• Collaborate with Investment Management to interpret fund-level models and align with NAVs.
