Job summary

Cambium seeks a Vice President, Counter Laser & Directed Energy, to lead our dual-use optical materials technology and product development for defense and aerospace programs in El Segundo, CA. This executive will set strategy, guide R&D, and oversee a team of scientists and engineers across government and commercial customers.

You will own full lifecycle of optics programs from research to fielded products, build partnerships, manage budgets, and drive growth of LEP and counter-DE capabilities

Qualifications

• Deep technical expertise in photonics, LEP, and directed energy concepts.
• Experience leading development and commercialization of optical products for defense markets.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and program management for government contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead optical materials R&D and set technical strategy for government-funded and internal programs.
• Oversee government contracts, budgets, milestones, and deliverables for optics projects.
• Drive development of optical products from concept to production and field deployment.
• Mentor and grow a high-performing team of scientists and engineers.
• Pursue new business opportunities and capture strategies for optics products and solicitations.
• Align optics strategy with Cambium's broader advanced materials roadmap.
