Cengage Group is seeking a visionary Vice President, Core Systems within Product Technology to lead shared technology capabilities enabling scalable digital products across markets. You will guide teams, modernize the ecosystem, and drive AI-enabled learning experiences while partnering across security, privacy, and legal to ensure global compliance.

You will build distributed teams, set strategy, and mentor leaders to deliver high-impact, reliable platforms that power education technology

Qualifications

15+ years leading software or platform technology
8+ years in senior engineering leadership with distributed teams
Experience defining platform/shared-services strategies across complex portfolios
Experience running high-availability enterprise systems with reliability targets
Experience leading AI-enabled product platforms or data capabilities
Proven ability to modernize legacy platforms into cloud-native architectures
Proven cost optimization and budget/vendor management

Responsibilities

Own technology strategy, roadmap, and operating model for core systems
Advance build-once, scale-everywhere strategy with reusable capabilities
Drive modernization through AI, cloud-native architecture, API-first integration
Establish shared AI infrastructure and platform services for smart learning experiences
Partner with product, Security, Privacy, Legal to ensure data protection and global privacy
Lead engineering leadership team, mentoring, succession planning, and modern delivery practices
Evaluate build/buy/partner options and create transparency for shared services
