Job summary

Abacus Group, a premier independent investment banking advisory firm, seeks a VP Controller, Corporate Functions to join their Manhattan, NY office. The role oversees finance and accounting for a large technology investment portfolio, driving cost governance and accurate reporting.

You will lead capitalization processes, budgeting, forecast cycles, and cross-functional collaboration with procurement, accounting, and finance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or a related role within financial services.
• Experience with technology investment accounting, capitalization, and cost governance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with financial systems and ERP platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversee finance and accounting activities for a large technology investment portfolio, ensuring effective cost governance.
• Administer capitalization processes for employees, contingent workers, and technology-related investments.
• Coordinate annual technology budgets, forecasts, and financial planning with business leadership.
• Identify cost trends, accounting issues, and opportunities to improve financial performance and efficiency.
• Consolidate global financial results and deliver executive reporting across business functions.
• Enhance financial reporting processes, variance analyses, and management presentations to support strategic decision-making.
• Partner with procurement, accounting, and finance teams to ensure accurate invoice processing, accruals, and month-end close activities.
• Support regulatory reporting, accounting policy initiatives, and financial compliance requirements.
• Manage project accounting, contract reviews, and capital asset recognition for technology initiatives.
• Analyze financial data and perform ad hoc reporting to support executive leadership and cross-functional projects.
