Job summary

Citizens, Inc. seeks a Vice President, Compliance to lead the global compliance program. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this role shapes regulatory strategy, strengthens relationships with regulators, and drives an ethics-driven culture across the organization.

Ideal candidate has deep insurance regulatory knowledge, executive presence, and a track record of risk-based governance within a public company. Remote options with travel to Austin as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; JD or advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in insurance compliance, legal, risk, or regulatory affairs.
• Minimum 7 years of leadership experience in enterprise compliance.
• Experience presenting to executive leadership, boards, and regulators preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent oversight of the company’s compliance risk profile across operations.
• Lead development and governance of a risk-based enterprise compliance program.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on obligations and risks.
• Oversee regulatory examinations, market conduct, reporting, and remediation activities.
• Partner with leaders to integrate compliance into strategy, product development, and operations.
• Promote a culture of integrity, accountability and ethical conduct.
