Job summary

Synchrony seeks a VP of Cloud Data Solution Architecture to lead the strategic design of its enterprise data ecosystem in the cloud, enabling high-performing, secure, scalable data platforms for operational and analytic goals.

The role shapes target-state architecture, promotes reusable migration frameworks, and partners with senior stakeholders to modernize legacy data ecosystems and drive cloud-native data capabilities at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Eng with 8+ years in IT or data architecture, or 10 years experience without degree.
• 5+ years designing, modernizing, or migrating data platforms in cloud environments.
• Experience with cloud-native data platforms, data lakes/lakehouse, IAM, security and analytics ecosystems.
• Experience defining target-state architecture, roadmaps, reference architectures and standards.
• Agile experience using JIRA or similar tools.
• Willingness to travel for business as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide architecture thought leadership across cloud data platforms, data lakehouse and data mesh patterns, event-driven architecture, API-enabled data sharing, and AI/analytics ecosystems.
• Shape and maintain target-state architecture and modernization roadmaps aligned with business priorities and scalability.
• Support architectural evaluations and trade-offs across cloud-native services, data storage, performance, security, resiliency and cost.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to assess current-state environments and improve data product usability, discoverability, and performance.
• Establish architecture principles, patterns, reference architectures, standards, and reusable migration frameworks.
• Influence cross-functional teams by translating architecture decisions into business value and actionable options.
