Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years of casualty claims experience within general liability.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
• Data-driven mindset with Power BI or similar tools.
• Excellent knowledge of claims handling principles, laws, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
• Experience with litigation management and high-severity casualty claims.
• JD or advanced degree preferred; CPCU designation preferred.
• Leadership/management experience supervising claims staff preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of six casualty claims professionals.
• Oversee the primary casualty claims process for proactive, efficient, accurate, and compliant handling.
• Review and authorize settlements exceeding individual adjuster authority.
• Ensure appropriate reserving practices.
• Analyze loss trends and prepare management reports on claims outcomes, litigation management, large loss activity, and performance indicators.
• Collaborate with underwriting, risk management, legal, and other departments.
• Develop and implement claims-handling best practices and update claims policies and procedures.
• Handle escalated or complex claims and represent the company in mediations and settlement conferences.
• Liaise with reinsurers and brokers.
• Promote a customer-focused culture and exceptional service.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and industry best practices.
• Contribute to strategic planning, technology enhancements, and process improvements.
• Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
