Job summary

Flagship Pioneering is seeking a VP, Business Development to lead the articulation and initial execution of the BD strategy across a subset of ecosystem companies. The role involves negotiating transactions and driving deal flow with Pharma, reporting to senior leadership with high visibility within Flagship.

The successful candidate will bring a proven BD and corporate strategy track record, deep scientific literacy, and the ability to design meaningful partnership concepts and term sheets with

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years’ industry experience with BD and corporate strategy leadership.
• Strong track record designing and executing sell-side BD deals with pharma/biotech.
• Advanced degree (PhD/MD) strongly preferred; MBA is a plus.
• Senior leadership experience with enterprise-wide mindset across disciplines.
• Ability to translate complex science into compelling value propositions.
• Experience partnering diverse biotech platforms or therapeutic modalities.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own BD strategy for a subset of Flagship portfolio companies and drive deal flow.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration to understand platform tech and products.
• Develop messages and narratives to articulate value and build partnerable packages.
• Define BD action plans, data generation, and scope for partnerships.
• Identify relevant biotech and pharma stakeholders and execute transactions.
• Partner with CEO and senior leaders to secure buy-in across the company and Board.
• Incorporate partnership perspective early in R&D and development processes.
