Job summary

iCapital is seeking a Backend Software Engineer at Vice President level to design, build, and operate services powering the iCapital platform. You will own projects end-to-end, write maintainable code, and contribute to architecture decisions across Scala, Ruby, and Python ecosystems.

You will collaborate with engineers, PMs, and partners, and work primarily with cloud-based services. Office Mon-Thu with remote Fridays; strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn new technologies are valued.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience with a modern programming language such as Ruby, Scala, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
• 5+ years experience building or integrating with APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Familiarity with automated testing, version control, and modern software delivery practices.
• Understanding of cloud application development and distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to plan work, refine specifications, delegate tasks, and validate implementation quality.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services and APIs.
• Translate product and business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Own projects from design through production rollout and ongoing support.
• Write maintainable code and contribute to technical design decisions.
• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards.
