Job summary

J.P. Morgan is seeking an Applied ML and Generative Lead to design, build, and run production-grade ML and GenAI services. You will stay close to code and architecture, setting standards for security, stability, and operability across multiple workstreams.

You will partner with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver high-impact NLP/GenAI solutions, mentor junior engineers, and drive adoption of cutting-edge techniques and external APIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of applied AI/ML experience.
• Hands-on engineering leadership: setting direction, architecture decisions, code reviews, mentoring.
• Proficiency in Python; experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and OpenAI API.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker & Kubernetes, microservices design, implementation, and optimization.
• Strong foundations in statistics and ML—including deep learning and reinforcement learning.
• Portfolio of generative NLP models using OpenAI APIs.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership by designing, developing, and deploying ML/LLM/GenAI solutions from concept through production.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, ML engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and priorities.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and coaching, building MLOps pipelines for deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Implement optimization strategies to fine-tune generative models for NLP use cases and high-quality outputs.
• Evaluate generative models (e.g., GPT-4.1) and iterate on architectures to improve performance.
• Implement monitoring to track model performance in real time and ensure reliability.
