Job summary

Goldman Sachs The Core Engineering seeks a seasoned VP AI/ML Engineer in New York to design scalable AI/ML solutions for regulatory and compliance use cases, leveraging GenAI, embeddings, and agentic architectures. You will collaborate with compliance and legal teams to translate requirements into production-grade systems.

You will lead and mentor engineers, drive model development and deployment, and stay at the forefront of AI/ML platforms and practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or similar.
• 7+ years AI/ML industry experience for Bachelor’s/Master’s; 4+ years for PhD focused on Language Models.
• Strong foundation in ML algorithms, including deep learning architectures (transformers, CNNs, RNNs).
• Proficiency in Python and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, scikit-learn.
• Demonstrated expertise in GenAI techniques including RAG, model fine-tuning, prompt engineering, AI agents, and evaluation techniques.
• Experience with embedding models and vector databases.
• Experience with MLOps, including deployment, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and model monitoring.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable end-to-end AI/ML solutions for compliance applications.
• Lead development of GenAI-driven solutions, including agentic frameworks and embeddings.
• Explore model fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and experimentation with algorithms.
• Develop, test, and maintain production-ready code.
• Lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with compliance officers, legal counsel, and stakeholders to translate requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and promote best practices in AI/ML development.
• Stay current with the latest AI/ML platforms and techniques.
