Job summary

Clear Blue Insurance Services Puerto Rico LLC seeks an operational leader for reserving analytics within a growing U.S. P&C carrier.

Reporting to the SVP, Head of Actuarial Reserving, this role creates and documents quarterly reserve analyses across 36–40 active programs. The VP will own reserve model development, prepare gross and net reserve indications, support statutory reporting, and deliver detailed analyses for SVP sign-off.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related quantitative discipline.
  • ACAS required; near-FCAS strongly preferred.
  • 8–12+ years of progressive P&C reserving experience within a U.S. regulated insurance carrier.
  • Strong expertise in statutory and GAAP reserving, including development of IBNR and ultimate loss projections.
  • Experience preparing gross and net reserve analyses and supporting Schedule P and Schedule F reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of quarterly reserve analyses across 36–40 active programs, producing well-supported gross and net reserve indications for review by the SVP.
  • Develop and maintain reserving models and analytics, including IBNR analyses, development selections, and ultimate loss projections.
  • Prepare detailed reserve exhibits supporting statutory and GAAP reporting, including Schedule P data support and Schedule F gross/net analyses.
  • Evaluate reserve impacts of complex program and reinsurance structures, including loss corridors, aggregate stop loss, and quota share arrangements.
  • Produce gross versus net reserve reconciliations and support collateral-related reserve calculations.
  • Prepare analysis and materials supporting the Statement of Actuarial Opinion and related regulatory filings.
  • Partner with Finance, Claims, and Underwriting to validate assumptions, investigate development trends, and ensure alignment between operational data and reserve selections.
  • Serve as a heavy user and contributor to reserving systems modernization efforts, including implementation and use of enterprise actuarial tools (e.g., Igloo, ResQ or similar).
  • Support responses to regulatory, auditor, and rating agency inquiries through well-documented technical analysis.
  • Supervise and mentor one direct report, establishing disciplined documentation, review, and quality control processes.

Job description

This is a high-impact opportunity to serve as the operational leader of reserving analytics within a growing, program-focused U.S. P&C carrier. Reporting to the SVP, Head of Actuarial Reserving, this role is responsible for the creation and documentation of quarterly reserve analyses across a diversified portfolio of 36–40 active programs.

The VP will serve as the primary technical owner of reserve model development and quarterly reserve output, preparing gross and net reserve indications, supporting statutory reporting, and producing detailed reserve analyses for review and sign-off by the SVP.

This role combines deep technical execution with meaningful cross-functional exposure to Finance, Claims, Underwriting, and Reinsurance, and offers a strong growth trajectory with potential long-term leadership development within the reserving function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of quarterly reserve analyses across 36–40 active programs, producing well-supported gross and net reserve indications for review by the SVP.

Education & Experience
Required

  • Exposure to interactions with regulators, auditors, or rating agencies.
Team Scope
  • Direct management of one actuarial team member, with opportunity for expanded leadership scope as the function grows.
  • Primary responsibility for the technical creation of reserve output across all active programs.
  • Close collaboration with the SVP, Head of Actuarial Reserving, who provides final review, governance oversight, and executive-level representation.
  • Regular coordination with Capital Modeling, Pricing, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to ensure consistency across reserve, capital, and enterprise risk assessments.
