Job description

Volunteer: Technical Project Manager / Product Manager

Join to apply for the Volunteer: Technical Project Manager / Product Manager role at The Chamber of Us.

TCUS was founded in 2024 by Kevin Schmidt and a dedicated team of changemakers who saw the need for bold, systemic solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. With backgrounds in engineering, medicine, and construction, our team combines technical expertise with a passion for human-centered impact. From supporting classrooms in Ethiopia to exploring sustainable housing solutions, we aim to create real, measurable change where it’s needed most.

Why Volunteer with TCUS?

TCUS is more than just a nonprofit—it’s a movement to rethink how change happens. Volunteers are essential to helping us expand our reach, refine our programs, and make a bigger impact. Whether you have skills in content creation, fundraising, research, or community engagement, there’s a place for you here. Join us in building a world where innovation meets compassion in action.

Get Involved!

We’re looking for dedicated volunteers who are passionate about making a difference. Whether you’re interested in helping with social media, writing, outreach, or graphic design, we’d love to have you on board. Reach out today and be part of a team that’s working to create sustainable, systemic change!

Are you an organized, product-minded problem-solver who can help turn ideas and prototypes into real, working systems?

We’re looking for a Technical Project Manager or Product Manager (Volunteer) to help us coordinate and accelerate the development of Recipe Empire—an experimental platform designed to promote sustainable, healthy diets and contribute to global climate solutions.

What We’re Building

Food systems account for nearly one-third of global emissions. The IPCC and leading climate scientists have identified shifting to sustainable diets as one of the most effective ways to mitigate climate change. Recipe Empire is an early-stage platform designed to make that shift easier and community-driven—starting with a space for plant-forward, culturally diverse, and climate-friendly recipes and knowledge.

We’ve started development, but we need a strong project lead to keep the moving parts aligned.

What You’ll Do
  • Organize and manage technical priorities across developers, designers, and researchers
  • Track project progress and remove bottlenecks
  • Define clear milestones and sprints for an early-stage, lean team
  • Support documentation of technical and product decisions
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among a fully remote, flexible team
  • Help shape the roadmap for both MVP and future phases
  • Keep us focused on what matters without over-complicating
Who You Are
  • Experienced in project management or product management
  • Familiar with technical teams, software development cycles, and MVP thinking
  • Skilled in coordinating small, remote, volunteer-based teams
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and early-stage product development
  • Organized, proactive, and clear in your communication
  • Bonus: Interested in food systems, sustainability, or social impact tech
Why Volunteer With Us
  • Help build a climate-aligned platform from the ground up
  • Play a key leadership role in shaping the product
  • Gain experience managing an early-stage, distributed technical team
  • Flexible, remote contribution—no rigid time commitment
  • Make a real impact on climate action, sustainability, and community contribution
