Remote Underwriting Manager, TPO Specialty Products

Join our team as a Remote Underwriting Manager specializing in TPO Specialty Products. This role involves overseeing underwriting processes for non-qualified specialty products, ensuring compliance with company and investor guidelines, and leading a team of underwriters. The position offers a salary range of $140,000 - $170,000 annually, plus quarterly bonuses.

Responsibilities

1. Manage a team of specialized product underwriters across wholesale and correspondent channels.
2. Perform managerial duties including hiring, training, performance monitoring, and disciplinary actions.
3. Mentor and develop underwriters to achieve high performance standards.
4. Monitor quality, technical skills, and risk analysis of team members.
5. Provide ongoing training and updates on industry changes and guidelines.
6. Establish operational controls to maintain quality and service standards.
7. Define and monitor productivity and performance goals.
8. Oversee pipeline activities, ensure timely processing, and quality compliance.
9. Analyze production reports and update senior management.
10. Review files for quality assurance and provide second signatures as needed.
11. Assist in developing underwriting guidelines and training materials.
12. Collaborate with senior management on departmental goals.
13. Improve team and department performance, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.
14. Handle post-funding audits and quality control reviews, implementing corrective actions.
15. Recruit and assign workload to staff, perform underwriting duties during peak times.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Expertise in underwriting specialty products, with knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, and Government guidelines.
• Strong decision-making, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in PC applications such as Excel and Word.
• Experience in a paperless environment preferred.
