Aeon for Ocean is a U.S.-based, volunteer-run nonprofit founded by 7-year-old Aeon in Minnesota, dedicated to sharing knowledge about marine life, the oceans, and our role in protecting the planet.

Our focus is on helping inland communities understand why the ocean matters and identify actions they can take to protect it. Through initiatives like Krill2Whale, Aeon for Ocean educates kids about saving the World Ocean for generations to come.

SOCIAL MEDIA ASSOCIATE VOLUNTEER

Location: Remote, United States

Position Type: Volunteer, Part-Time

Position Description

We seek an experienced, creative Social Media Associate Volunteer to develop impactful social media strategies and create engaging content for all Aeon for Ocean’s channels. This role involves directing social media activities to attract supporters, increase engagement, and grow our supporter base.

Your Impact on our Mission

This position is vital to our mission. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Using social media to build brand awareness and grow followers among existing and prospective audiences.
  2. Developing social media campaigns, creative assets, and marketing plans to connect with supporters and new audiences, maximizing engagement and social sharing.
  3. Driving social media fundraising efforts, including tools like Facebook Fundraisers.
  4. Planning and managing a social media calendar, ensuring cohesive messaging.
  5. Creating diverse content such as text, videos, images, gifs, animations, and live content tailored to each platform.
  6. Executing campaigns on time and within scope and budget.
What You’ll Bring To The Team

Along with a passion for our mission, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of how to use social media to build brands and attract attention.
  • Experience with various social platforms, increasing followers and engagement.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Creativity in identifying target audiences and devising engaging digital campaigns, especially on Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • A passion for ocean conservation and youth leadership, with motivation to increase awareness of Aeon for Ocean.
  • Self-direction, effective communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse team.
  • Prior nonprofit experience is preferred.
  • Location within the contiguous U.S. is highly preferred.

Applicants should be able to attend periodic meetings during CST hours and commit at least 6 months, with a few hours per week.
