Job summary

Habitat CFC is seeking a Volunteer Services Coordinator in Stratford, CT to organize volunteer programs and assist with development events.

This full-time, non-exempt role reports to the Director of Development & Volunteer Services and requires strong communication, organization, and hands-on event support.

You will engage volunteers, coordinate Build Days, maintain records, and help run Youth United and Women Build initiatives while delivering a positive volunteer experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience in volunteer coordination or nonprofit fundraising.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with VolunteerHub and online fundraising platforms.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask under deadlines.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all volunteer services activities for Habitat CFC.
  • Schedule Build Days; manage on-site activities and group photos.
  • Recruit, screen, and train volunteers; ensure waivers and onboarding docs.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules with staff to meet site needs.
  • Maintain volunteer records in VolunteerHub and track hours.
  • Organize volunteer appreciation events and training sessions.
  • Liaise with Youth United and Women Build programs for meetings and fundraising.
  • Assist with development events and online fundraising pages (GiveGab, GiveSmart).

Position Title: Volunteer Services Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Development & Volunteer Services

Position Summary:

The Volunteer Services Coordinator plays an important role in the Development department, focusing on coordinating volunteer services activities and assisting with development projects, including events.

Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Services
  • Coordinate all volunteer services activities.
  • Schedule corporate, community, and affiliate program Build Days. Manage day-of activities. Take photos of groups on construction sites.
  • Recruit, screen, and train volunteers to support Habitat CFC programs and events.
  • Ensure required volunteer waivers and onboarding documentation are completed and maintained.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments with appropriate Habitat CFC staff to meet program and site needs.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records in VolunteerHub and track volunteer hours for reporting purposes.
  • Foster positive relationships with volunteers, recognizing and appreciating their contributions.
  • Provide ongoing communication and support to volunteers, ensuring a positive volunteer experience.
  • Organize volunteer appreciation events, recognition programs, and volunteer training sessions.
  • Act as the lead liaison for the affiliate's Youth United and Women Build programs. Coordinate program meetings, fundraising initiatives, and events.
Development
  • Assist with pre-coordination of Development events, including Annual Gala, Golf Tournament, ReStore After Dark, and Home Dedication ceremonies.
  • Help set up online fundraising platform pages (GiveGab, GiveSmart) for events. Help update event website pages and add sponsor/in-kind donation logos.
  • Help solicit silent auction donations, in‑kind donations, and sponsorships for events.
  • Assist with on‑site logistics of events, including setup, breakdown, and volunteer coordination.
  • Take on additional projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
  • Previous experience in volunteer coordination, non‑profit fundraising, community engagement roles, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Preferred experience with VolunteerHub and online fundraising platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow‑through.
  • Ability to multitask and perform well under deadlines.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to perform desk‑based work and onsite activity, including extended computer use and walking or standing for extended periods in indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Ability to lift, carry and move supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Reliable transportation is required to travel to Habitat CFC build locations and event sites.
Position Details

Type: Full‑time, non‑exempt, $25-$30 per hour

Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Occasional Sunday, Monday, and evening work is required.
