Job summary

Feeding Southwest Virginia seeks a Director of Volunteer Services to recruit, train, and manage volunteers for essential daily operations. You will lead the Quality Assurance function and oversee volunteer programs across multiple sites, coordinating events and partnerships with community partners.

You will develop recognition programs, maintain records, and ensure compliant practices while communicating with staff, donors, and government officials. Strong leadership and governance are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and/or two years’ experience in volunteer management required.
• Two years of experience recruiting and managing volunteer-based workforce or equivalent required.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills, including delegation and motivation.
• Excellent public speaking and presentation skills; strong communication abilities.
• Proficiency with MS Office and ability to analyze data and report results.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and manage volunteers for task-driven positions essential to daily operations.
• Direct and manage the Quality Assurance department and oversee the volunteer program.
• Coordinate and support special events and volunteer opportunities with internal teams.
• Develop a volunteer recognition program to retain engagement and participation.
• Maintain volunteer records, train volunteers, track hours, and report activity.
• Schedule assignments and tours; maintain calendars and partnerships with local organizations.
