FedWriters, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Volunteer & Docent Programs to lead the National Coast Guard Museum volunteer and docent initiative in New London, CT. You will recruit, train, and schedule volunteers, ensuring knowledgeable support for every gallery and event.

This full-time, on-site role requires a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years in volunteer management, with experience in vetting processes and CVA preferred for advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, social science, communications, or museum studies.
• 2+ years in volunteer management, community outreach, or program coordination.
• Experience with volunteer-management databases and understanding of labor rules.

Responsibilities

• Recruit volunteers for docent, ambassador, education and administrative roles.
• Interview candidates and coordinate vetting paperwork with the Coast Guard.
• Train volunteers on museum history, mission, visitor service and safety.
• Build shift calendars to cover peak hours and events, track hours.
• Run appreciation events, awards and volunteer newsletters.
