Job summary

GLIDE, a nationally recognized center for social justice in San Francisco, seeks a Volunteer Program Coordinator to support the volunteer department, run orientations, recruit volunteers, and help design new programs. You will engage with schools, government agencies, universities, and corporate partners to grow volunteer numbers and retention.

The role is onsite Monday–Friday 9:00 AM–5:30 PM with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays, including major events.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a non-profit, education, or social impact organization.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience coordinating volunteers, recruiting, and scheduling is highly desirable.
• Experience delivering presentations and facilitating workshops for large groups is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multitask under pressure.
• Ability to work with diverse communities, including unhoused or formerly incarcerated individuals.
• Proficiency with MS Office and a CRM, preferably Salesforce.

Responsibilities

• Greet and steward volunteers arriving and departing for shifts.
• Schedule and conduct volunteer orientations, debriefs, and trainings.
• Lead group presentations, workshops, and activities.
• Coordinate with internal departments to add volunteer opportunities.
• Support recruitment, retention, and success of volunteers across programs.
• Assist with development of Service-Learning programming and marketing materials.
• Build relationships with schools, government departments, community orgs, universities, and companies.
• Organize volunteer appreciation events and recognition initiatives.
• Attend off-site recruitment events and tabling; represent GLIDE at external meetings.
