Job summary

Tybee Lighthouse in Georgia is seeking a part-time Visitor Services Assistant to support daily operations, tours, ticketing, and gift shop duties.

You will work 32 hours weekly, climb the lighthouse, greet visitors, manage volunteers with the Volunteer Coordinator, and help with reservations and events.

Must be reliable, able to lift 15 pounds, and work in varying weather conditions while ensuring safety and a welcoming visitor experience.

Qualifications

• Must be able to climb the lighthouse tower.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including scheduling software and basic admin tools.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
• Comfortable working indoors/outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Know and manage all volunteers, the site, and its history.
• Coordinate with Volunteer Coordinator to ensure daily coverage of buildings.
• Assist with volunteer calendar management.
• Manage community service workers including scheduling and paperwork.
• Assist with volunteer training as needed.
• Conduct daily tours of the site and tower, ensuring safety and enforcing rules.
• Assist with reservations, scheduling, and payments for programming and membership.
• Support parking, gift shop, ticket sales, and after-hours events as needed.
• Answer phones and keep site tidy and visitor-friendly.
