Job summary

Hesed House, a faith-based organization serving the homeless in Aurora, IL, seeks a Volunteer Coordinator to manage volunteer relationships across multiple programs and hours. You will work with the Director of Volunteers to place volunteers into areas that need assistance and develop engagement opportunities for diverse groups.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and ability to train volunteers, with a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must have strong written and verbal communication.
• Excellent people and organizational skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with diverse staff and volunteers.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Must pass DCFS and criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Manages volunteer relationships and coordinates groups serving at Hesed House.
• Interacts with over 90 group coordinators and conducts volunteer orientation.
• Recruits, trains, and evaluates volunteers; tracks service hours.
• Develops partnerships and toolkits to recruit and empower coordinators.
• Represent Hesed House at community events and ensure positive volunteer experiences.
