Job summary

Wayside Waifs in Kansas City is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to support daily operations of the volunteer program, recruit and onboard volunteers, and collaborate with staff to provide training, resources, and engagement across departments.

You will manage communications, maintain training calendars, schedule classes (DOG101 and CAT101), and recognize volunteers. Strong customer service, organization, and the ability to handle multiple tasks are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or people-facing roles.
• Demonstrated ability to work with volunteers and coordinate programs.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and enroll new volunteers and serve as primary liaison.
• Develop and update volunteer training materials and schedule instructors.
• Coordinate training classes (e.g., DOG101, CAT101) and volunteer scheduling.
• Support volunteer engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.
• Maintain accurate volunteer records across software systems.
• Communicate schedules and updates to staff and volunteers.
• Participate in Manager on Duty rotation as required.
