Merrimack Valley YMCA in Lawrence, MA is seeking an Entry-level Seasonal role to support youth programs and the safe operation of activities. You will help supervise participants and assist with activity planning in a welcoming, community-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
• Independently manage and facilitate activities for youth; manage groups including supervision, lesson planning, and attendance.
• Create an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of youth.
• Work cooperatively with professional staff and other departments.
• Promote YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
• Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.

Qualifications: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
• Independently manage and facilitate activities for youth; management of groups includes but is not limited to:
  • Assisting with activity supervision
  • Assisting lesson planning and implementation
  • Keeping accurate attendance documents
• Create an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of youth
• Ability to work cooperatively with professional staff and other departments.
• By personal example, help interpret the quality of YMCA Character Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
• Accept and perform all other responsibilities necessary for the organization's good as required by the supervisor (remains flexible).

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 15 years of age
• Commitment to personal youth development
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• General knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
